Demystifying the Carving of the Turkey
or how I learned to carve the bird.

 

 

Turkey carving can seem pretty daunting, especially at a meal where the turkey in question is the centerpiece of the entire event.  Unlike the confusing picture above, with a little bit of know-how breaking down a turkey into a great looking platter is a lot eaiser than it might seem.

You often see turkeys being carved directly at the table in movies and TV shows, with each slice served to guests one by one. However, it's much easier to do all the carving in the kitchen. For the visual impact of presenting the whole turkey at the table, I recommend displaying it there while it rests. After this brief showcase, take the turkey back to the kitchen for carving and to remove the stuffing.
